Buying Quality Goods
Date: 2026-07-26
When buying new things sometimes I feel like I'm stuck in a loop because I overthink about what item to buy.
I want to buy something that I don't have to break the bank over and I want the quality to be good.
That is to say, I want something with a good price-to-utlity/quality/desirability ratio.
I want to find the minimum amount I would have to pay for a product that I would find satisfactory. (i.e., I want to use the least amount of money possible).
If the price is low and the quality is low then it would have been a waste of money.
If the price is high and the quality is high then I might have overpayed because a lower quality, but cheaper product, would have been satisfactory.
i.e., I want something that is "Good enough" while keeping the most amount of money possible.
I find that for any given product (e.g., headphones, rollerskates, misc. electronics... etc.) that a lot of the people
online that would give recommendations for what one should buy, are fantatics of that class of product. They will tend to have
higher standards than what is required for a typical persons needs, and thus, they will recommend products that are overpriced
in relation to their price/utility ratio.
Also, a lot of people have a hard time gauging what
people actually require, but that's just my opinion.
After years and years of going through these cycles of:
"Oh, Product A is good but Product B is slightly more and a bit better"
"If you get Product B, then you might as well get Product C because it's better for a small price increase..."
"well, now it's too expensive!..."
...and so on and so forth...
that I would say that I would take other people's advice with a grain of salt.
It's kind of non-advice, from my end, but I recommend that you trust your gut,
read as much as you can read,
and also be aware that others may be overestimating your needs,
and find a solution that fits your needs from there!
It's not a perfect method, but most of the time it keeps me satisfied
Remember that YOUR personal needs will be different than others.
Sometimes good enough is good enough and you shouldn't be too bothered by not having the absolute best product.
Always shop around, but just keep in mind that good enough is good enough!
