A quick run-down of the Moog Universe
Summary:
The Moog Universe is inhabited by a main faction called the
Imperial Moogs.
It is a Science-Fantasy universe like in Wizardry 8. There are dragons and Starships.
The Imperials expand and conquer new territories, new planets, new peoples.
The Empire spans the Stars.
Despite the breadth at which the empire spans, the focus is usually on the Planetary scale at most
but is usually at the scale of a single nation, or less.
The problem with expansion is that growth becomes super-linear
the logitics system for keeping the empire running is simply not effective at a large scale
thus, some Moogs are forgotten in sea of conflict...
Not even computers are equipped to handle the vast amount of information to process.
The exact "facts" of the Universe are always changing!
(i.e., The story is maleable and plastic!)
It is possible that two stories may not exist within the same 'sub-universe' of the Moog Universe.
The facts of the Moog universe exist in parellel and there is NO "Main" universe!
This allows for infinite room for creativity.
(e.g., In some universes [e.g., The
Shock x Moogs Sub-Universe], the Moogs are good guys!)
The Moog Universe is imaginary and created for the sake of play!
It is supposed to be fun, and will not ever tread into the territory of
dark, or realistic fiction. It may go there tangientially, but
it's really supposed to be a juvenile, silly world.
The Forgotten:
The main focus of the Moog Universe is, INDEED, not of the main fighting force, but of
the leftovers; the scraps.
Most of these Moogs are colonists. They have been forgotten by the higher government.
They are alone. These colonists are usually not the first generation of Moogs either.
They are the children- of the children- of the original colonists.
Stagnation
Lots of information has been lost and forgotten over time.
Sometimes, they even become friendly Moogs, which causes problems when the higher command
realises that they need something from that planet...
It is not unusual for colonists to become rebels to the Empire.
They have no attachment or history with the Empire beyond their inception
These creatures are primitive. They are not effective fighters.
Their training is enough for survival but not combat
The original colonists did likely have equipment in parity of our modern world
but without the knowledge of how to use it, or how to repair it,
the equipment is now useless to them, or forgotten, or used as scraps.
Identification
Moog Colonists and lesser Moogs can usually be identified by their ancient style of clothing.
Blue caps and uniforms. Black leather boots.
This uniform is considered Ancient, and thus it can be called the 'Ancient Moog Uniform'.
They do not have state-of-the-art equipment. Usually they have crude musket-like weapons.
A lot of the Moogs are animal people.
The Fox people, for example, were conquered and integrated into the Moog Empire.
They had pyrokinesis, but the ability has stunted and been forgotten over time.
The Main Fighting Force:
The Main Fighting Force is not of any importance really.
The focus of the Moog Universe is of
The Forgotten as seen above.
This information is important to understand where The Forgotten stand in this world.
This part of the world will never be the focus of anything because it's simply uninteresting per se.
Imperial High Command
The Government of the Moog World.
The highest ranks are incomprehensible. They are simply forces.
These forces cannot be touched or harmed but they can be felt.
They do not think. They only act.
These gods will be treated as if they DO think sometimes, however.
They cannot be destroyed except if they are collectively forgotten by everyone.
They live within the mind of all living creatures.
Imperial Leaders
Spirits and creatures from bad places.
We are now in the realm of the corporeal/semi-corporeal.
Beasts from Hell and from dimensions of Fear.
They deal in logistics, policy-making, business, risk-assessment...
The Fighters
The actual boots on the ground, and in the air, and in the sea.
They are what one could call 'Sci-Fi'. They make heavy use of teleporters.
Conflict is fast, but there is simply too much to deal with.
At the highest level there are...
>Shock Troopers made of pure energy.
>Autonomous machines that make landscapes bare at a blink of an eye.
These are examples of things that I am able to understand.
There is also everything between that and the most primitive of weapons
>Starships
>Powered Armor
>Plasma Weapons
>Androids
>...everything
The Early History of the Moogs:
Note: The history is intentionally vague and incomplete.
Golden Age
Many small black ball-like creatures with two big eyes spontaneously arise on a planet.
The planet starts to fill with life and fauna.
The small balls collect together and create the Super Ball Crystaline Structure.
The Structure is massive and reaches the heavens. They leave a shadow.
The Structure is intelligent and it observes its world.
Creatures from the stars find the Structure and they live in harmony.
Many many years pass and the creatures had been using the structure as a type of calculation device.
They talk to it and ask it for advice.
It allows them to build technology beyond the understanding of scientists and engineers in our modern world.
It is an Age of Enlightenment.
The Fall
The Structure is now old and wise, but the creatures no longer respect it.
They have outgrown it.
There is fighting and two factions emerge: The Idiot Greys and the Illuminates.
At the end of the conflict the Illuminates leave and take all the advanced technology with them
they never return and they will never be seen again.
The conflict births the first of the gods:
>Malice
>Ambition
...naturally, they were paired with their opposites...
>Love
>Contentment
The Beginning of Moogs
With the birth of Malice and Ambition they conspired together
and warped the minds of the creatures of this world
they gathered together which results in the inception of the prototypical
Moogish Empire.
The rest of history is left to be written.
Questions and Answers:
What is a Moog?
A Moog is a creature that inhabits the Moog Universe/Moog World.
Are Moogs good guys or bad guys?
I don't like the concept of Good or Bad in the context of the Moog Universe, but sometimes I may say they are 'bad'.
The Moogs are really just playful creatures under all the dressing I put up.
They are the antagonizing force, let us say.
In any case. They are 'Good' or 'Bad' depending on the story I want to tell.
Is this universe violent?
No, it is toy-universe. It is fun and toys.
Everything is toys and imagination and play.
Meta Information:
The Moog Universe was created so that I could busy myself with a world that is always beset by conflict, which is interesting.
The Universe is not supposed to be scary or realistic.
There is no REAL reason for conflict EXCEPT for conflict itself.
This universe is very juvenile and basic and that is intentional.
Don't think too hard about the logic of this world because it's not a 'brain food' series.
